Spatulas at the ready ladies
Calling all bridesmaids tasked with organising a bridal shower or hen's party in Wellington. We have the perfect activity that ties in with the wedding theme - a private cake decorating class! There’s something incredibly satisfying about getting a group of people together and turning a simple cake into something fabulous. I recently had a lovely group of ladies join me to create dreamy watercolour cakes. Some of the guests had travelled across the country to celebrate with the bride-to-be and give her a memorable evening. As with most bridal showers, some of the guests were meeting for the first time. Doing an activity where everyone is working in pairs around a large table is a great way for people to get to know each other. Enjoying the banter and laughter as they wield a spatula and follow my instructions to create their own buttercream masterpiece. This group of 12 worked in pairs, which meant they only had six cakes to eat with their dinner instead of 12! It was fantastic to see all the beautiful cakes taking shape. During the class I shared my favourite tricks and tips for creating the watercolour effect, and how to use flowers as decorations and the popular edible gold leaf. It was a fun and relaxing way to start their evening celebrations. All the guests left with their artfully crafted cake in a box, heading out for a delicious dinner. In case you were wondering, yes humorous aprons and a glass of bubbles to sip on during the class is absolutely fine.
